Mobilizing GCF funds in West Africa

The Green Climate Fund (GCF) is a financing mechanism to assist developing countries in adaptation and mitigation practices to counter climate change. Natural Strategies was hired by an EU-based institution to revise a concept note for a GCF project focused on improving management and resilience of forest landscapes in West Africa.

In this assignment, Natural Strategies works to:

• Conduct context - and climate barrier analyses, supported by stakeholder consultations and data collection

• Identify highest impact project components that can reduce deforestation while generating community livelihood benefits

• Develop a revised theory of change, project design, budget, and implementation arrangements

• Ensure alignment with national stakeholder interests for project validation.
