Building resilience through nature-based investment
Natural Strategies Director Alexander Koch co-authors UNDRR’s flagship publication on sustainable investments for disaster risk reduction.
Natural Strategies Director Alexander Koch contributed to the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction’s flagship Global Assessment Report on Disaster Risk Reduction 2025 (GAR2025), which explores how to build a safer, more resilient future in a rapidly changing risk landscape.
Alexander served as a Lead Author for Chapter 6 – Investing in Resilience for Economic Stability. This chapter explores how to redirect financial flows toward risk-informed, sustainable investments - showing how investment vehicles such as blended finance, green bonds and debt-for-resilience swaps can be used to fund climate-resilient infrastructure and nature-based solutions. It highlights emerging good practices that demonstrate how to mobilize private capital by de-risking projects and showcasing scalable investment models across sectors and geographies.
GAR2025 will serve as a key reference for investors, governments, and international institutions seeking to embed risk reduction into economic and financial decision-making.
