TURNING
SCIENTISTS INTO COMMUNICATORS:
A FOCUS ON THE ALDO LEOPOLD
LEADERSHIP PROGRAM
Principal Adam Davis is facilitating portions of an
innovative training program designed to help prominent scientists better communicate
scientific information to the public. The Aldo Leopold Leadership Program was launched in
1998 to respond to the need for sound, up-to -date scientific information about critical
ecological issues facing the world today. Through this program, scientists, who are
generally unaccustomed to speaking out about issues they are expert in, are trained in the
skills they need to reach out to the public, the news media, businesses and policy makers.
